Nicolas David Kershaw, born March 1, 1958, Bristol, Somerset, England. His mother was an opera singer and his father a flautist. In 1983 his song 'I Won't Let The Sun Go Down On Me' reached number 47 on the British charts, and soon after 'Wouldn't It Be Good' reached the Top 5, both in the beginning of the New Wave era. In 1985, Elton John, - a big Nik Kershaw fan - had him play guitar on 'Nikita'. His last two albums, '15 Minuites' and 'To Be Frank' are great but little known in the U.S. He now spends more time producing music behind the scenes.

I've been lucky enough to see Nik in concert at Norfolk, VA, and Merriweather, MD, in 1985 with Paul Young, but I was definitely there to see Nik with my best friend Miriam and worked all summer to make a banner to hold up with the Riddle tree on it. Since then I've seen him twice in England for 15 Minutes and To Be Frank tours and that was great, small venues, and getting to meet Nik for a hug (thanks Nik!). My fav soungs are "Easy" (since I love Mark King and Level 42 as well second only to Nik), Brave Face, and Already There. I have a big collection of Nik LPs, EPs, picture discs, magazine, etc, and always looking to add to it. Also love to hear that Nik is releasing new music and still touring in Europe. You go Nik!

denver, co usa - Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at 23:16:52 (EDT)I have been a Nik fan ever since I was 12 years old. I love his music and I am looking forward to seing him on stage again on the 11th June, here in Berlin! And... I am also very excited about the release of his new album "Then&Now;" on 30th May, a "Best of" album, but including some new tracks as well. Can't wait to hear those new songs of my favourite songwriter/artist!!

Berlin, Germany - Sunday, May 08, 2005 at 08:02:10 (EDT)Ich bin erst 20 Jahre alt und habe sicherlich das Beste aus den 80ern verpasst. Welch ein Jammer! Doch schon immer hab ich mich gefreut die Songs von Nik Kershaw (The Riddle, Wouldn't it be good) zu hören.

Sparneck, Bayern Germany - Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at 13:53:09 (EST)Nik has been a favorite of mine since I first heard "Wouldn't It be Good". I was able to track down the "Human Racing" LP and it became one of (and still is) my favorite albums.
It was back in 1985 that I saw Nik in concert at the Open Air Theater at San Diego State. He was opening for paul Young. I think my friend and I were the only ones standing and singing during Nik's performance :) He was great.
Having just gotten an iPod for Christmas, I have been going through my CDs trying to get everything loaded in. I'll have to admit I've forgotten how much I like Nik's music. Now I just need to figure out a way to get all of my old vinyl onto my computer so I can load 'em up and have the songs with me all the time.
Favorite song?? Very tough question. "Die Laughing", "Radio Musicola" and "So Quiet" are a few that come instantly to mind.

Essen, NRW Germany - Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 17:18:25 (EST)I remember hearing "Wouldn't It Be Good" on the radio and wondering- who is that? What a great voice! Then I saw one of his videos and I could not believe how goodlooking he was. I began to tell anyone who would listen about this talented man wh looked like a young Dean Stockwell and sang like Stevie Wonder. It's too bad he never got big, but I'm so glad he is making music and performing.
