Im in shock by some of the movies in this list. Where is the movie "The man who cried"?
(Depp and Rici) That movie about induced my gag reflexes. Honestly, i'd watch gone in 60
seconds twenty times before "The man who cried". Honestly, i could name hundreds of bad
movies nowhere on this list.

can we please just include movies that were trying to be good but
sucked. I don't see how Dude Where's My Car, clearly not an attempt
at making a good movie, is one of the worst movies ever. Wrong.

Armageddon???? im shocked to see that movie up there. its one of
those movies where the critics didnt like it but everyone in the
world liked. Ive looked at alot of movie review site and the critics
usually give it a D+ or C- but the Users give it a B+ or A-.

Gone in 60 seconds wasnt that bad. It wasnt good, but it was fun to
watch. It had a real plot (unlike many other movies on this list), a
few half decent car chase scenes, it also had a few good jokes. Plus
the acting was acceptable. Im just saying that it wasnt one of
those humiliated movies that nobody likes. It could have been much
worse. And it wasnt worse than other action movies. Deep Blue Sea was
FAR WORSE.

Thanks Bryan for the explanation. I agree with most of your criteria.
However some movies, even with bad acting or bad directing, etc, can
still be really entertaining and worth watching.

Almost everyone I know thought that Dumb and Dumber was hilarious in
its entirety or had many scenes that were incredibly funny. I wanted
to hate it, but I could not stop laughing. What's your criteria for
it being so bad? Many Eddie Murphy films (and Gigli)are deservedly
on your list because they are not in any way funny when they were
suppossed to be. The Valley of the Dolls is a legitimate film on
your list, it complete fails to be the film the director intended it
to be. Nevertheless, it is hilarious to watch because it was so
bad. Maybe you should split your list, or have two lists: one of
films that you would love to watch because they are so bad, and
another of films that are not worth watching for any reason.

The Life of David Gale makes a very important political statement
about the death penalty and activism both for and against it. It also
presents this debate as it plays out in the film in a way that is an
accurate mirror of what happens in death penalty cases and
executions. I can only assume it is on your list because you think
the plot is far-fetched. The acting was pretty good, also. Please
rewatch it or rethink about it in this light and remove it from your
dishonorable mention list.

well im currently working on a list of criteria that will explain the
rankings of these movies..which will be added once this list is updated
(im still working on it but i cant give any specifics on when this
page will be revised)..anyway i based a lot of this list on things
such as how these movies were looked upon by critics and auduances
alike..there is even dynamics involved..movies that were flops, movies
that ended or nearly destroyed careers..but it also wouldnt hurt to
pick up some of those razzie awards to boot..statistcly,battlefield
earth is the all time razzie champion(9 nominations, winner of
7)..battlefeild earth was also hailed by the raspberry award commitie
as the worst movie they have seen in the 25 years of the raspberry
awards existance..i also take into consideration all the bad qualitys
that makes these movies SO bad..bad acting, bad directing, bad
producing,overproducing,bad writing,unoriginal storylines,borrowed
ideas,luaghable concepts and or themes,thin characters,unlikeable
characters, time length that far exceeds the endurance of the human
bladder,historical and or fatcual inaccuracies,lack of logic,cheesy
special effects..it also hurts if the movie is
boring,confusing,offensive,hypocritical,pretentous(in a bad
way),condescending,mean spirited,dull,unfunny if its a comedy,unscary
if its a horror flick, ridiculious, unbelievable(fantasys can break this
rule),unrealistic,disgusting,ill
concvieved,lazy,inept,inane,grating,anoying,an embarrassment to watch
and just downright unwatchable..these are my dynamics as one might say.

"Road House" is conspicuously absent from this list. Boo boo, if you
haven't seen that movie, its two hours of bar-brawls, which, had it
not tried to have actors or a plotline, would have been cool for some
mail-order dvd set or something rednecks would enjoy. But it is so
terrible, top 15 just for its 2,000 uses of the fake "whapack" punch-
face sound effect, dunno how I'd spell that out but you know what I
mean.

I thought Drop Dead Fred was hilarious. And I have yet to see Newsies
and Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas, but I've heard they're both
really good. How do you decide what's on the list? Oh and A Knight's
Tale should be added, that movie was awful...maybe it's already on
there and I just didn't see it. OH and A Pet Semetary wasn't too bad,
as cheesy horror movies go.

it's place. Nice list otherwise lol. Hold up...
Natural Born Killers on the list... come on Boo Boo, you're smarter

small part) has enough quality to be above Cocktale

I wouldn't consider "Plan 9 From Outer Space" one of the 100 worst
movies of all time, because it's so bad that it's paradoxically
entertaining, and whole-heartedly watchable. Truly terrible movies,
like "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" or "Freddy Got Fingered,"
are nearly impossible to watch more than 10 minutes of. "Plan 9" may
be the worst movie as far as actual quality of film goes, but there are
much more than 100 movies that are a worse experience to watch.

Hey I just noticed, in the dis-honorable mentions section, there are
movies that shouldn't be in there. Dumb and Dumber and John Q weren't
that bad. And I don't think they should be in there. And even though
I don't personally like this movie too much, Meet Joe Black isn't SO
bad that it should be in there. I say just get rid of those 3 and the

the 100 worst movies ever, and you put NATURAL BORN KILLERS on it? Were

Alright, that was one of the worst films I have seen in awhile, and I was watching Sphere this weekend. There was too much action and violence to be a decent childrens film, and not enough actual substance to pass as a real movie. Vin Diesel (ooh, tough stage name) trys out some Jackie Chan style fights using everyday objects in a battle and temporarily taking people out of action, just generally sucking. He is a horrible actor overall. Big fucking arms, and I sure as hell wouldnt say this shit to his face, but he sucks. Please, save your money, dont see this. If anybody tries to persuade you to do otherwise, kill them. Dont let them reproduce.

This list is too recent, if the editor had any idea of REALLY bad movies, I'm sure Plan 9, Glen or Glenda and Bride of The Monster (courtesy of Edward D Wood Jr) would all make top 10. A worst list without Ed Wood is not a worst list.

Someone mentioned adding 2 of the LOTR movies to this list. If they were ever put on here that would be the stupidest thing anyone has done since the beginning of mankind.
I think Pearl Harbor should be taken off......even if the story is wrong or whatever the problem was. If you take away that flaw you have one hell of a movie. To be honest I loved Pearl Harbor and I dont see anything wrong with it.

boo boo: I know, I see exactly why the scenes were never shot, but I still wish there was a way they could have fit it in. I dont blame Peter Jackson at all on that one, unless he wanted to make a TV miniseries instead, but that would have never really worked. The extended DVDs are already a test of your will and your bladders strength, so to make them an extra 1/2 to 1 hour longer would simply kill people.

it would have been impossible for the movies to cover everything from the books,if you read the books you would know how freakin thick they are, the total length of all the LOTR movies combined would be over 9 hours, if they had covered every scene that took place in the books it would have been over 16 hours at least. of course nobody would have settled for that.

boo boo: the ne problem I have with the LOTR movies is that the whole "Trouble in the Shire" section is completely ignored. That really made the books for me. The ten minutes, and yes I timed it, of crying and hugging at the end sort of pissed me off. Really minor LOTR nerd complaints, other than the Trouble in the Shire part.

what is bad about the lord of the rings trilogy?,they were very loyal to the books, and i dont know how anyone could not like the books,so how could you not like the movies?,they were not like the last 2 star wars movies which were extreamly disapointing, the LOTR movies lived up to the hype, the special effects were amazing but the characters were also complex, the story had depth, and the acting was great. they were not like the recent star wars movies where the characters were 1 dimensional and the acting was wooden. you have to give jackson credit, the guy made all 3 movies at the same time, and it dosent show, who else could do that?,jackson worked his ass off. anybody who would put those movies on a worst list would be biased, people are already complaining about some of the movies that i added,if i added the LOTR movies to this list, somebody would be getting bomb threats.

Guava,
Have you actually read LXG? If not shut up. It actually is VERY good. Marvel ripped them off for the concept of the hulk, if noone realized. It's also a book not a strip. And it's really smart and has lots of references to old books, look it up there are tons. I went through it once and thought i'd found alot, and i was dead wrong. Ranting sry. I never thought i'd have to defend a comic book on these sites.

aNdre. I think you'll find that all these films have been widely acclaimed as turkeys of Christmas proportions - in the Golden Raspberries, the Golden Turkeys and in respected film guides such as Halliwell and Leonard Maltin. Not that they're right all the time..most of it though. I don't think Godzilla is half bad at all.
Several from the dishonourable mentions list need moving right up to the 'top' 10
Golden Child - Eddie Murphy has been in some godawful shite but this one takes the biscuit. It has no saving graces.
The Jazz Singer - saw this on a coach journey. So bad I was hoping a crash would put us out of our misery
League of Extraordinary Gentleman - why make a movie out of a crap comic strip in the first place
Sliver - what's the opposite of a twist i.e. you know exactly whodunnit, the ending within the first half hour? That's Sliver.

not at all true,i know this list is not factual(what list is?)and i know people will disagree with some of the choices, but this is the closest to a unbiased list one can hope for. if this list was completely based on my opinion, then i garantee you that even cowgirls get the blues would be number one and tunnelvision would be much higher. some of the movies on this list are movies that i actualy kinda liked,i liked waterworld, but the fact that it was so dispised by many earns it a place on this list.

Remember the clown Penguin kills in one of the Tim Burton Batman movies? He's in a jar on the spaceship. The movie is pretty funny when you notice everything about it.

most of the movies on this list are just as you discribed, movies that tried to be serious and failed miserably. but this list also includes movies that tried to be funny and failed miserably, all of the movies you mentioned fit that category. anyway,i do agree with you about the fact that there are certain actors who have talent but they just need a good agent who can help them with movie roles, cuba gooding jr is a perfect example. in 1997 he won a oscar, now he is staring in movies like snow dogs, radio and boat trip, sounds like progress,no?
troy
mars attacks is dreadful,to point out all of its foughts would take me all day. it gets too caught up in its already stupid plot, and at a certain point it even forgets to be funny, the movie takes itself too seriously to be fun,but its to damn goofy to take seriously, the movie has this big all star cast, but they are all wasted(literaly, they are wasted by laser blasters),the only person who manages to get some laughs is nicholson, that part where he does his little cant we all get along speech was the only part of the film that made me crack up,the rest of the movie is pure crap, and this is coming from a big tim burton fan,but even great directors can make crappy movies(are you listening mr.lynch?),even burton himself had admited that this movie was a complete failure,a good director,a good cast and a few clever touchs couldnt save this movie from being a bomb.
Pedro
demi moore isnt a bad actress, yes she has had some really crappy roles(striptease, the scarlet letter, etc),but she has still given some decent performances, she isnt a worse actress than cindy crawlford, thats for sure.

Since it does seem sort of wild to say Mars Attacks! is good, let me point out a few things about it. If you notice Jack NicHolson's tie dissapear during his speech, you probably made the connection to when the same thing happens in A Few Good Men. Also, being a parody of the old 50's sci fi movies, all the army uniforms, jeeps, tanks, and artilleray are from that same time period despite the fact that the movie is supposedly set in modern times. You will also notice they use The Cattle Song, which is also played in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The ray gun sound effect is taken directly from War of the Worlds! Its not that bad when you realize everything behind it.

some of these movies arent really that bad. they are more like "hate em or love em" movies. while those movies are despised by some, they are also loved by some as well. its these extremes that make them into cult classics. movies like "cabin boy", "bio-dome", "freddie got fingered", "death to smoochy", and "surf ninjas" are so incredibly stupid and ridiculous that they wind up being entertaining to most people. granted, the old classy men with suits and ties that we call critics wont ever let themselves like them for fear of never being taken seriously again. but critics make up a very small portion of the audience. i dont have a problem with these being on here simply for the ridiculous nature of them, but i would rather see this list used for pointing out the horrible movies that tried to be serious and failed miserably. its those movies that nobody can find entertaining and many of them exist.

I've definitely seen more shite films than good ones by a ratio of around 20-1, many of which are listed here. But there are some major omissions from this list notably anything involving J-Lo esp 'Gigli' and 'The wedding planner'. Diabolical tosh. Then there's 'Give my regards to Broad Street', basically an ego trip for Paul McCartney. I'd also include those very dull bratpack 80s movies full of angsty American teens doing not very much e.g. 'Pretty in pink', 'Breakfast club'. Utter cack. Plus, any film which makes a hero out of some smarmy suited corporate wannabee e.g. 'Secret of my success' .

just like the greatest movies list, winning and getting nominated for numurous awards will certainly help earn a movie a place on this list, for the record, newsies was nominated for the golden raspberry award(also known as the razzies)for worst film of 1992,it was also nominated for the big stinker award for worst picture of 1992(the stinkers are very similar to the razzies),though it lost out both awards to shining through,it still won several awards for worst acting and directing.

god,
yeah, the effects were visually pretty good. and i think affleck should just stop trying to be an action star, and go for comedy drama. he cant act in highly dramatic roles, nor does he have the intensity to do action movies. he is best when doing charisma based dramatic comedies like good will hunting and chasing amy. he has the charisma to be around for a long time if he would pick his roles better. hartnett should never be casted in another movie ever again though.

No shit, lol, I meant it was visually great, like it had good action scenes. You can't deny the effects were great.

I've been away for a while...but I'll still respond to your comments weeks ago. Just cuz I hurt your feelings about critiquing your poor music taste shouldn't keep you from reading the whole abstract, where I spelled out the reasons why Dune (or any of my movies) is not one of the worst movies ever.
However, that being said. I do think that poor taste in one area of art and cultre can certainly be a sign of a general ignorance of what might constitute a significant expression. It is hard to believe that you have a "deeper" and intellectual understanding of film if you are stimulated by brainless bubble-gum female-pop-vocalists, never mind arguing about which no-talent, no-creativity female vocalist is the "best" at giving nothing meaningful to music. Sure they are very different, but your cultural awareness and ability to recognize art that offers meaningful expression and creative genius is totally suspect.

the attack on pearl harbor in pearl harbor was not great. it was accompanied by extremely cheesey lines, terrible acting once again from mr. hartnett (the second worst actor of his generation, next to vin diesel), and zero emotion. the lines were the worst though. "lets get them jap suckers!" what??? and they said it twice. and that wasnt even the worst. they kept going for the powerful dramatic one liners and it kept getting worse and worse. its the low point of affleck's busted up career (though i still think the man has the charisma to come back if he would pick some good roles and stop overacting). hartnett shouldnt be in movies period, let alone a starring role. though it cant quite top the horrible vin diesel in XXX, his performance will still go down as one of the worst ever. that scene may have been the best of the movie, but it was far from great or good at all for that matter.

Uwe Boll IS the worse director. EVER. EVER. Ed Wood movies at least had some redeeming factors (the so-good it's bad) and Michael bay, although creates horrible movies gives some people good escapism/action scenes. The attack on Pearl Harbor on Pearl Harbor is awesome, although accompanied with the worse story in cinema history. However, Uwe Boll movies have NO redeeming factors - trust me, I'd know. I've seen Sactimony, House of the Dead and Blackwoods. I've also seen Glen or Glenda, Plan 9 From Outer Space, Pearl Harbor and Armageddon and all those, but Uwe Boll is the WORST. The Rock from Michael Bay had its moments, and Ed Wood had a fish bucket budget, yet Uwe Boll, with $20 million dollars cannot even create a competent script. Uwe Boll is the worse.

You're missing the worst of the painfully abundant Adam Sandler films, "8 Crazy Nights". I don't normally walk out of theaters, but I actually ditched that one to see Eminem's "Eight Mile" (another possible add, methinks).
Oh and Rush Hour. Chris Tucker's another untalented black "comedic actor" (his films have nothing comedic nor anything resembling acting in them), in league with the likes of Martin Lawrence to just talk in a sassy street-slang merely to provide comic relief in stupid scenes.

The best comedy movies i've seen weren't intended to be comical. Many are on this list, but it wouldn't be complete without Deep Rising(1998), and perhaps the worst movie of all, Troll 2. I have no fucking clue who made that piece of shit or when it was released, but I'm sure anyone who actually watched it could agree.

Yeah, I agree. There are plenty of movies worse than Gone in 60 Seconds. Driven, Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious... the list goes on. there are plenty of bad movies about cars, I dont see why you singled that one out. I actually think the three I listed above are for worse. Charlies Angels: Full Throttle beats Gone in 60 Seconds by a longshot, as does 2001: A Space Travesty, Bad Boys 2, and especially 8 Crazy Nights. Speaking of which, that movie needs to be added, probably top 50 material right there.

Yawn! The "well, you are too stupid!" to understand cop-out. Dune was a shit movie; horrible adaptation. Some of the greatest directors have had bad movies, such as Martin Scorsese (Last Temptation of Christ), Stanley Kubrick (just about every movie he made), Francis Ford Coppola (The Godfather Part 3) and James Cameron (Pirhana 2). Yes, The Straight Story and The Elephant Man was good, but Dune sucked ass. Stop bitching you dumb ass bitch.

Sorry about the lateness of this response...but the only reason one of my movies is on your list is because you don't have the mental capacity to understand them. they are far too deep for simple minded pop-music-lovers like yourself (that's right, I've seen your faggot comments on "the greatest female pop-vocalist ever" list when I went there to make fun of anyone who wasted their time with such a laim-ass list). Lucas, you actually LIKE Armageddon? Incredible...
It has:
1. Bad acting (Ben Affleck? Come on! The only person to show a shred of talent is the one and only... STEVE BUSCEMI!)
2. Horrible dialogue (Some Russian guy comments on how he has never seen "Star Wars" after some guy asked him a dumb question. Here is some more sappy "dialogue":
You're not taking any more blood. You vampires already have enough to feed your coven for a year.
Max : Oh, man, did I have a dream.
Bear : So did Martin Luthor King.
And I just RANDOMLY pulled this from the script! GOD THE PAIN!!!!!!!! THE PAIN!!!!)
3. The King of All Hacks directed it... Michael Bay
4. The story is repetitive once they go on the aestroid, it's a "Oh! I dropped a screw! thing over and over again)
5. It's inept. Why shoot a shotgun at an oil rig? Why is NASA training diggers to be Astronauts and not vice versa? It just doesn't make ANY sense.
Anyways, I am getting tired, I'll finish my rant on Armageddon tomorrow... I was about to get on why it is so inept and inane too :(

If Napoleon Dynamite was supposed to be funny in some kind of way, it wasnt. It was cheap. The letter that Summer gave to Pedro was in the same handwriting as the letter that Deb gave to Pedro. They had such a low budget that they could only afford one person to write both letters. Infact, I thought that was the only funny part of the move. Something that was so stupidly obvious that no one during the editing process noticed, lmao.

How can a movie be #7 on the 100 Greatest Sci-Fi Movies list, yet places at #68 on the 100 Worst Movies list? Therefor, this list no sense. And I bet you would even agree that Lew has more knowledge in movies than you do.

- Saturday, February 19, 2005 at 16:34:05 (EST)
Bryan,
I think if you have movies on the list that some people sincerely like, maybe you should explain why you include them on the list of WORST movies ever made. Even though there is one movie that I love (Fear and Loathing) there are quite a few movies that aren't terrible, and definitly "worst ever" material. The list seems to have far too many movies that are too tounge and cheeck to be so high up the list, and just about all of them were made in recent times. That's probably because older terrible movies are already long out of the public mind. I really think you could use some more experience with terrible movies, because according to this list, you are really missing out on some of the greats (er...awfuls)
PS. Please don't take offence to this post. It wasn't meant as an attack, but it could definitly be interpereted as such.

well, just as the 100 best is extremly bias to older movies it seems that this list is ignorantly bias to newer movies, than again, who wants to talk about old crappy movies that no one remembers anyway??? I suggest a most overrated movies column, what do you guys think?? That would more represent the "worst" movies category's long history.
Has anyone seen crossworlds? I remember it as being one of the worst movies EVER.

Wow. I have now seen a slipt between human beings. The One That Love Will Ferrell, and the people who hate Will Ferrell. I Love Will Ferrell, and I thought Anchorman was comic geneuis, I have not seen a movie with some much calibar in years When I saw Blazzing Saddles in 74, or maybe 75, in a theatre.
A Movie That should be moved up is Pearl Harbor, It is the most historically incorrect movie, and the hole love story was soooo stupid. It is definatley the most stupididous Historic Movies. Heyy thats an idea make a top ten list of the worst Historic movies, Comedy Movies, Romance movies, Musical Movies, It shouldn't be too hard.
10 Worst Historical Movies Ever
1. Pera Harbor

3. Enemy at the Gates
4. Kelly's Heroes
5. Murphy's War
6. Wind Talkers

guy, I don't entirely agree with you. There are plenty people who you have to just 'get' or you don't like, but I don't think Ferrel falls swoon to that catagorie. I, personally, think the things he does just aren't funny, and the only way to 'get' it is if you have a slightly inferior sense of humour (sorry for the word-choice). I've met people who don't like Monty Python because they 'don't get it'. Ferrel just doesn't give me a lot TO 'get'. Like Rob Schneider. He is such an ass.

Eric: Nothing like horrifying stereotypes to be hammered into a childs mind for family entertainment. Did you see either of them? The black baby is constantly saying things like "Can't a brother get a drink?" Do you really want children to be subjected to that sort of thing? Thats why its one of the worst movies. Its not even a good kids movie, thats why its one of the worst.

Alright guys, I'm gonna set the record straight on Will Ferrel. The deal is, you either get him or you don't. You think his movies are hilarious or just plain stupid. Much like Andy Kaufman in his day, some people just didn't understand his brand of humor so they looked the other way. That's the same way with Ferrel, he's the Andy Kaufman of the new millenium.

I don't think anyone should be too hard on slasher films. They aren't meant to when academy awards, they are just meant to show you a bunch of insides and severed limbs. Overall they are meant to entertain you, and you get that whether you are being scared or just laughing at it.
I think Baby Genioses should not be on this list/. Most of the people on this list are old enough to realize that movie was stupid, but it wasn't trying to entertain older people. The purpose of it was to entetain little kid's, and that's what it did.

I'm not trying to piss you off or anything but saying "one reason Fridya the 13th is on here because it started the whole awful series" doesnt make any sense. Ok so The Exorcist has 2 bad sequels.....well then I guess that means The Exorcist is a bad movie and needs to be added to this list right?? See what I mean?.......You can't say Friday the 13th is bad because of other movies that are bad and have Friday the 13th in the title. I have found the movie on many top horror movies lists on the internet. You also said "once you've seen one Jason movie you've seen them all" well not exactly when it comes to the first one, Jason isnt the killer in the first movie and isnt even in the movie until the end!! So how can it be like the rest?
Mark
- Saturday, February 12, 2005 at 22:52:53 (EST)
I don't really understand the mixing of truely terrible movies, and ones that are so bad, they're awesome. (Everyone has to admit they loved some of the movies on this list. Hell, I've loved a great many of them). That being said, Starship Troopers definitly deserves a spot.
But on a much more serious matter. Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas... What the hell is up with that? That movie was fucking great. What the hell is it doing on this list???
Ian

most of the movies here are movies that everybody agree is bad(howard the duck'showgirls'gigli'etc)'but i admit that some of the movies on this list are sacred cows'but the reason natural born killers is on here is because the movie seemed somewhat hypocritical'as for friday the 13th'its on here because it started the whole awful series'and the reason none of the sequels are on the list is because when youve seen one jason movie youve seen them all'so whats the point in adding them?

i did not add B movies because i wanted to make a list that was a little more chalenging'putting every ed wood movie in the top five would just be too easy'but dont worry'a worst B movies sidebar list will be added sometime in the future.

Both "Fast and the Furious" movies need to be added. They are definently top 50 material.
Also, isn't "Plan 9 From Outer Space" widely considered as the "worst film ever made?" It didn't even make the list. It should be number 1. Everyone knows that.
"Waterworld" is also considered one of the worst ever made. It should be top 5 and not just a mention.

I suggest you take off Friday The 13th before anymore horror movie fans see it on this list. It has been voted one of the greatest horror movies by a lot of people and is probally the best Friday The 13th of all of them. There is also nothing wrong with it.....I have seen the whole movie and theres nothing bad about it except for a little bit of bad acting but there arent very many horror movies that were made back then that had great acting.
Also you should take off Natural Born Killers. I know you probally put it on this list because all it shows is people getting killed and a bunch of other violence through the whole movie. Oliver Stone made Natural Born Killers to show how sick people can be and how violent the world is these days. He wasn't trying to turn people into killers. You got the wrong impression of the movie.

as i stated earlier'interview with a vampire and godfather part III will be removed'and the reason there are not any ed wood movies or mystery science theater movies on the list is because B movies are not taken into acount'the thing about those movies is that people actualy enjoy them'making them the kind of movies that are so bad they are good'the only movies included here are movies that are just plain bad'adding B movies would be too easy'but like i said before'if you make your own top ten list of the worst B movies'it can be added to this page'if that would make you happy.

Minus a few pockets of insight, I can't really say I agree with this list at all -- which is a surprise, as most of the other lists on this sight have been for the most part credible. You rank a number of films among the worst that are actually quite decent ('Heaven's Gate,' 'Natural Born Kills,' 'Death to Smoochie,' 'Interview with a Vampire,' and 'The Godfather Part III,' all of which are at least defensible), and miss quite a few members of the accepted pantheon of worst movies (e.g., 'Manos: Hands of Fate', much of the Ed Wood canon).
But since your list seems to focus primarily on more recent fare, I'd like to add to the hat the name of my personal nominee for worst film of all time: 'The Wedding Planner.' Worse even than 'Gigli.' By a mile.

bryan: Gothika wasnt that bad. I wouldnt say it was good, but its not bad enough to require recognition here. Pretty much every movie with a female pop singer in it (Honey, Glitter, Crossroads, Gigli, Spice World, Swept Away) is destined to suck. I know JLo was an actress before she was a singer, but she sucks at both.

oops'one more'FAIR GAME'that one is making this list for sure'i watched it on TBS a while back'and i tell you'there is nothing worse or more painful than seeing a supermodel(cindy crawford in this case)trying to act'anyway'i wont be removing that many films'but here are the ones that i dicided will be removed completely
the godfather part III;there pave'are you happy?
the matrix revolutions;i dicided that there are far dumber sequels than this one
road house;just another stupid guy movie if you ask me'but a lot of people i know liked this movie'and they probably would kick my ass if i didnt take it off
interview with a vampire;as much as i hated it'this movie seems to have many ardent fans'so not to be biased'i will take it off
hope floats;i admit'i might have been a little biased against this movie simply because its a chick flick'besides'its nowhere near as bad as those damn lifetime movies
the majestic;this movie isnt as bad as most people say it is'and not as many people hated it as the critics would want you to think
bryan(a.k.a.boo boo)

wow...that is a list and a half. Ok, that is a list of some real bad ones. I really don't even know what to say...they do suck. I'm not sure if ya want to sub these in, or just add them.
You know some of those are so bad that I haven't seen them...kinda makes it hard to judge for me. Actually I haven't seen a lot of them!
Now that I think about it...maybe this list is going to be a little hard for me to keep coming on here to say anything. Normally a person can tell when a movie is going to suck REALLY bad, so they just won't ever watch it...at least that is what I do. So movies like, cabin boy, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, or even something like Weekend at Bernie's 2, I won't watch, 'cause I don't want to punish myself, and I KNOW they suck ass, but I really shouldn't comment on them if I haven't seen them. I don't know...

another bad sequel was the one to Eddie and the Cruisers...why they made that...one may never know. It was very, very poor in just about every way. The story line destroyed what was set up in the first one. The music sucked, and it never(as far as I remember)involved anyone from the first movie except the Eddie character. Please hold this one in consideration. It could easily take the place of one of the dishonorable mentions, or one in the top 100.

Ryan: Bad Boys 2 should be moved up if anything. Not only is it a horrible movie, but it dragged on forever. I wouldnt hate it so much if it were only 90 minutes or so, but it was over 2 and a half hours! Plus, there was a bunch of unnecesary gore that not only added nothing, but took away from the film. It was there just to gross out the audience, like killing the mice and hiding on the table with the dead girl. The movie was total shit, and I almost went into a coma because of it.

how can you guys even think about adding billy madison and anchorman???
Also, you guys are mixing up movies you don't think are funny with bad movies. Just because it's not your style of humor, and you don't laugh, doesn't mean it didn't succeed as a movie.

Add:
Anchorman - I kept a straight face throughout the entire pointless movie
Soul Plane - I didn't want to see it but my friend rented it so I watched it.... and I got a little bit dumber each second I watched

why the fuck would you put maximum overdrive, gone in 60 seconds, friday the 13th, joe dirt, bio dome, jury duty, pet sematary, pet sematary 2, cocktail and alot of other movies on this list. These are not the best movies but there are far many movies that are worse than these. Have you ever seen going overboard with adam sandler. I have a red ring around my neck because I tried to hang myself 10 minutes into the film. This along with the most skilled drummer list are the worst on this site

Guy: 41. The Adventures Of Pluto Nash - (2002) (Eddie Murphy)
I said this on a different page, but I will say it again. This is the worst movie of all time if you look to measurable facts. It holds the worst record for production cost (100.3 million if I remember correctly) to box office gross (roughly 4.4 million). Not only is that the worst ratio of any major production, but it is also the largest financial loss of any film. The video rentals were nothing special either, but I dont remember the numbers on those. Anyways, the numbers say that it is the worts movie ever. I think it could move inot the top (bottom?) 30 on this list.

bryan: You left out quite possibly the worst movie that I suggested to you back on the comedy page. That was 2001: A Space Travesty. Other additions that should be made are as follows: Chronicles of Riddick, Timeline, The Animal, The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and You Got Served. I was really suprised none of those made the list. The total lack of Adam Sandler movies seemed a bit odd to me. Also, Gone in 60 Seconds wasnt that bad. Not good, but I dont see it as one of the 100 worst, and definitly not bottom 25.

AGAIN! Why is Harlem Nights on this list, let alone #30. That was not Eddie's best work, however it still doesn't deserve a spot on the list. You are talking one of the GREATEST comedy casts ever assembled. The real legends of comedy. Where else could you find a movie with Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, Redd Foxx, and Robin Harris? Not to mention a supporting cast of Arsenio Hall, Miguel Nunez, Della Reese, Tommy Ford, Jasmine Guy, and Charlie Murphy (from Chapelle Show fame) Maybe as an African American, I have a strong bias toward this movie. I grew up an Eddie Murphy fan, just as A LOT of others. He is one the most brilliant and genious comedic actors EVER. Why he is #27 on that list is beyond me and is a different argument for another day.
Remove this movie from the list.

your wish is granted'godfather part III will be removed'but im sticking with my choice to make the wild wild west number 14'little kids might have enjoyed it(really'little kids will eat up any crap hollywood trys to sell as family entertainment)but i cant say the same about their parents now can i?'they had to suffer through that awful film'so i think this list does them justice.
ps.i give kline and branagh credit for at least trying'but they really overdid it'and they still couldnt breath any life into this film.
bryan(a.k.a.boo boo)

i could care less about matrix revolutions and twister. but godfather III doesnt belong anywhere near this list. academy award nominated, usually 4 star rated, highly respected film. no its not the first two (not even close), but it is still a very good film. so i agree that it should be taken off.
on the subject of wild wild west. the plot was very weak. and will smith was very annoying. but kevin kline and kenneth branagh were awesome as always. two very well acted characters to make up for the rest of the film. plus, you have to remember, this is a kid's movie we are talking about here. i mean, kid's movies arent supposed to have complex plots. actually, if i saw a kid's movie with a complicated plotline, that would be a bad movie. nobody is going to make kids follow a complex set of events. with family entertainment, everything has to be pretty simple. if not, the kids get very uninterested.

Just a few movies that I believe could be taken off and substituted with some worse movies yet...and it's not that I think they are anywhere near great, or even good, but...
Gone in 60 Seconds, not good, but there is much worse.
Harlem Nights, not great, but the shoot your pinky toe off scene, and Redd Foxx's comeback after she says ,"I'd ask you to kiss my ass Benny, but you're so blind you probably can't find it." is priceless.
Haunted Honeymoon, haven't seen it in a while, but I don't remember it being one of the worse of all time.
Interview With a Vampire, I could come up with a lot worse than that, which would still include Antonio Banderas...like...Assassins or something else...maybe Evita.
Pearl Harbor and Armegeddon are not good, but again...I believe there is much worse out there.
Just a few more suggestions...probably getting sick of me already, but
Speed...the first one...sorry, just typing that almost made me puke on myself. Also need more Whoopi Goldberg movies...she is awful, and one could never go wrong with putting every Steven Seagal movie ever made up there.

I really think that this page is totally unnecessary. I thought that point of this forum was to praise and appreciate people's work, not degrade and trash people's efforts just because WE arent fans. Whatever happened to being courteous and considerate of others? I bet that 95% of the people in here couldnt write a better screenplay if their life depended on it. So even the supposed worst movie on this page deserves a little credit. I bet none of you have ANY idea how difficult it is to write a legitimate screenplay. Even I am guilty of listing movies that I thought were terrible. But I see the error in that. Even if did think those movies were bad, I still respect the effort that was put forth into making that movie happen. I just think we should show a little more appreciation for those creative forces behind movies. Or how about you just write your own damn movies from now on. I didnt think so.

"this list is so fuckin stupid. you have movies on here that are also on ur greatest movies list. you have armageddon and dune on the greatest scifi movies list, but they're also on here."
On the Sci-Fi list those are specifically for Sci-Fi movies, just because Armageddon is on the Greatest Sci-Fi list does not mean it is not a bad movie.
"but WTF!!! armageddon is not a bad movie. it has all the qualities of a good movie. it has a cool storyline, fun character, intense action, good music, and is just a good movie. this list is so fucked up."
Armageddon is easily one of the worse movies ever. It's 99% special effects and 1% story. This movie has so many scientific errors too that it is INSULTING. Yes, it is a sci-fi movie but DON'T INSULT THE VIEWER! When you are watching Star Wars you do not expect perfect science, but this is a movie based on earth/reality! Why the hell would a digger shoot a SHOT GUN at an oil field or why the hell would NASA train diggers to become astronauts and not vice versa? What's up with fire on space? Plus you add crappy dialogue, crappy concept, Michael Bay, Jerry Bruckheimer and Ben Affleck and you get a bad movie.
This list is not so bad, however he needs to add more movies like Plan 9 (even if it is a B movie - your list is NOT complete without an Ed Wood or Uwe Boll film, at least you have a Roland Emmerich and Michael Bay film!), Troll 2, House of the Dead and Superbabies.

bryan,
"the kind that are so bad that its good"
that description fits freddy got fingered i would think. ask yourself, "what was the film trying to accomplish" and "did it accomplish this". this film wasnt trying to accomplish much. and so it didnt disapoint. movies like battelfield earth were trying to accopmlish something and failed miserably at it. that is what makes them so bad. a movie like freddy got fingered has the intentions on not being a greatly developed movie. and so it didnt really fail. and honestly it wasnt such a horrible movie anyway. i know it relied to much on stupid antics, but green has a way of making them alot funnier than most stupid comedies (american pie, jack black movies, ect). and unlike most stupid comedies which serve as only a reason for the star to fuck around (as funny as they are sometimes, im talking about sandler and will ferrell movies. most of which have little actual depth), this movie actually does have a story going. the story is demented as hell, but it is there. this movie is not as bad as many critics make it seem. it wasnt a great movie. but it wasnt a horrible movie.

plan 9 from outer space was a b movie'and b movies dont count here'there are two kinds of bad movies'the kind that are so bad that its good and then there is the kind is just plain bad'the only movies that count here are the latter.

I disagree with Superbabies, Power Rangers, Kazaam and Home Alone 3, those are definitely top 100! Superbabies is WORSE than BAby Geniuses. Independence Day would definitely be a dishonorable mention.
And Ishtar and Heaven's Gate are top 100 material, but not top 20. Sure, they are super flops but they are not From Justin To Kelly or Gigli bad...
Where are House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, Plan 9 From Outer Space, Hobgoblins, Troll 2 and Manos: The Hands of Fate?

HOLY CRAP'i completly forgot DUDE WHERES MY CAR(im such a moron)'i must have been stoned'guess i was so busy making the list i forgot about it'but looking at it now'it certainly should be mentioned'when this list gets updated i will be sure to add it.

Clanton
you are right'of all the movies on my list'i only included one movie from the 60s(valley of the dolls)'while at least 70 of the movies mentioned are made in the 90s as well as a handful of films made in this century'and yet'there are only 30 or so movies from the 80s and at least 4 from the 70s'WHY?'there were crappy movies made in the 60s and before the 60s'but as the decades pass'movies get even worse'like i said'i didnt include b movies'yes'ed wood movies were bad'but at least they are entertaining'plan 9 from outer space and glen or glenda? are masterpieces compared to battlefeild earth and glitter'in this day in age the worse movies you could possibly imagine are being made'you never know when the next gigli will be released.
bryan(a.k.a.boo boo)
- Monday, February 07, 2005 at 02:19:02 (EST)
The problem with the worse movies is after a few years they are totally forgotten. Thus there isn't a single film from the 60's and before. Surely there was one horrible movie in the 60's or before.

I disagree with a handfull of these, as I'm sure everybody does with a few.....I second the adding of Dumb and Dumberer, and want to mention Three Ninjas (and their sequels) and The 9th Gate(ending? what's that?)

thanks'i could add baby geniuses 2'but i have to ask one question'did anybody here actualy see it?(i didnt'i saw the first one'im not stupid enough to watch the bloody sequel)'a lot of people have mentioned it'but i cant imagine anybody would actualy pay to see a sequel to baby geniuses.
pave
thanks for your imput but i disagree with most of what you said'as for godfather part III?'i admit'its not really a awful movie'but it is a really disapointing one'a sad excuse followup to a american clasic'and armageddon certianly deserves its place'its the norm of shitty big budget-no brainer hollywood movies'the fact that it did make so much money makes it even worse.
Charles
give me a good reason why wild wild west shouldnt be on this list'everybody hated this movie'and for good reason'its the ultimate hollywood special effects trash movie'complete with will smiths anoying mugging'a even more anoying theme song'and a shitload of special effects but no plot(or coherency)'gone in 60 seconds was also a stupid half assed summer action flick.
Jake
thanks'im glad you like it.
Joe
actualy'i didnt think waterworld was that bad either'but this movie was hated in some circles(and when i mean some circles'i mean'THE PLANET EARTH)'so it earns a spot due to popular demand'i did my best to make a unbiased list'not all the choices are based on my opinion alone.
adam
of course this list will cause anger'thats part of the fun.
BlackDog
okay'could you give me some examples?
baldyeagle
well'that may because of difference in opinion'i admit putting dune on here was a gamble(since it is so high on the sci fi list'but i think it deserves a spot.
Drew
xanadu brillant?'HA HA HA HA HA!
Alvin
no problem'battlefeild is number one'there should be no argument over that.
Devin
i thought Napoleon Dynamite was a great movie.
Johnny
i think you should know that b movies are not included'thats why there is not one ed wood film on the list'WHY?'because as badly made as these movies are'they are still entertaining'the movies that this list focus on are movies that are UN-entertaining'anyway i could make a worst b movies sidebar list if that could please you'in fact'why dont you make your own b movies list and post it here and see what everybody else thinks?'if its good'i will make it into a sidebar next to my list'and yes'joe dirt was that bad.

Meh.
This list focuses on the overhyped modern movies, but it leaves out some of the truly bad ones that were made before the nineties. Watch a couple seasons of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and redo the list.

Here is my list of the worst movies:
1. Jack Frost 2
2. Howard The Duck
3. Jack Frost
4. Glitter
5. You Got Served
6. Gigli
7. Dude, Where's My Car
8. Leprechaun 2, 3
9. House Party 4
10. Thirteen
Why is Harlem Nights even on the list much less #30? Granted, it is far from Eddie's best work, it still does not deserve to be on this list. There are PLENTY of movies that are worst than Harlem Nights.

Why isn't plan 9 on here?
Personally, I think D&;D should be higha, it's awful! They're making a two.

the problem is, some of these movies are considered bad for the very thing they were made for. movies like corky romano and joe dirt (both of which i hate) are supposed to be stupid comedies. and they were. wild wild west and others were supposed to be family comedies. but yet they are probable on here becuase of the corny nature that comes with family comedies. surf ninjas- its supposed to be that stupid. thats the funny part. your missing the idea of alot of these movies.

Ya actually Bad Boys II shouldn't be on here. And even though Jingle All the Way was pretty dumb, I wouldn't say it's one of the WORST movies ever. It's just a pretty corny family movie.
Alvin

BLUE STREAK was a good martin lawrence movie and the first BAD BOYS was good too

Nothing To Lose is a good Martin Lawrence movie...

I agree this lists sucks. i usually just look at the lists and withold comments but this list is so bad its unreal. Natural Born Killers and Dune are on this list?! yet Dune is high up on the Sci Fi list and none of the films below it on that list make the worst movie list. Doesnt make sense

The good thing about this list, is you can't really get people to complain because all of the movies are bad. I gotta say Gigli is top 10 just like Devin though. But Battlefield Earth was definently the worst movie ever, and I'm glad you put it there. Thanks dude.
Alvin
- Sunday, February 06, 2005 at 12:24:25 (EST)
Gigli for top 10. I done know how i sat threw that movie. Show Bad Boys 2 really be on here also?
Chris
- Sunday, February 06, 2005 at 11:54:06 (EST)
Gigli should be moved up, Pinata Survivor Island should be added (horror movie with an evil pinata), and I'm very glad Death to Smootchie is on here, its terrible. I know I'll get no backing on this, but in my opinon the worst movie I've ever seen is Napoleon Dynamite.
Devin
- Sunday, February 06, 2005 at 10:55:08 (EST)
i think of The Edge as one of the wordt movie's ever made. it should be added. it's so bad its funny

some of these mivies are good or at least decent. the worst movies should be a lot worse than this
i
- Sunday, February 06, 2005 at 09:55:24 (EST)
a couple of these movies are overrated as hell. but they are far from being among the worst movies ever. armeggedon, gone in 60 seconds, wild wild west. i dont know if any of those would really qualify for this list.
godfather III?????????? no, it is no where close to the first two, but one of the worst movies ever????? hell no.
two dark comedies that dont belong on here- freddy got fingered, death to smoochy. what are we here, critics? i know a forty year old stuck up critic cant give these movies a thumbs up, but what makes them worthy of this list? i would agree that the plot in both movies is ridiculous, but it was supposed to be. so whats the problem? were they both entertaining? yes. get over the stupid stuck up attitude of "man this sucks, only dumbasses would like this", becuase alot of people are dumbasses and did like them.
im not saying this list is entirely bad, but i think alot of the choices were based on the maker's personal try at being a critic. picking out movies that they personal did not like, or that sold well over what they should have (no doubt armeggedon should not have been a blockbuster. none of these should have been. but that would go towards overrated, not necessarily horrible).
and one more time, for emphasis. the godfather part III?????????????
pave
- Sunday, February 06, 2005 at 02:08:59 (EST)
