Looking for two songs I remember my parents playing in my
childhood (born 1965) - they liked lots of 50s music. One
was very sad - "walking in the sand (or rain, can't
remember), trying to forget about her walking in the rain,
trying to forget that she's gone......." The other was
something like "Hey Las Vegas, can nothing save us from
you.... one of these days, I'm going to burn you
down.... " Hope someone can help - many thanks in
advance!!! Kiwikate

Carole, you have no idea what you are talking about. I have
the original Fats Domino 45, and the song is called "Ain't
It A Shame." Same thing on "Rock-In Robin" If you actually
had these records you would know this.

Here's a link where you can see the Fats Domino record.
Read it and weep:

david, there are some who would say that "Rocket 88" is the
first rock and roll record, but I would go with "Good
Rockin' Tonight" by Wynonie Harris, from 1948.

Bruce
- Monday, November 05, 2007 at 21:23:26 (EST)
hmm but i thought rhythm and blues is 1940s music. it's so
confusing. "rocket 88" is the first rock music song, am i
correct?

david rodriguez
oklahoma city, oklahoma u.s.a. - Saturday, November 03, 2007 at 11:20:19 (EST)
David, in the early to mid-50s there was no
difference. "rock and roll" was just a new name for rhythm
and blues, as people in the business thought that it might
be easier to sell the music to mainstream America if it was
called something that did not apply a racial connotation.

In subsequent years "rhythm and blues" came to be known as
a term that decribed the black take on rock and roll.

Bruce

Thank you, Lew. I think you got it. The reason I was
looking for that song is that there is an alternative rock
band that is using that guitar lick and of course my 14 yr
old thinks it's all original. The name of their song
is "Sleep Walking." Original, huh? ha ha. Thanks again!

There is an instrumental slow song from i believe the 50's
that is mostly guitar, but has what I think is a steel
guitar in it too or a slide, not sure, but what it plays
gives the song a Hawaii type of sound, although some might
say it gives it a country/western. It's a very poluar song
that you hear in movies taking place in the 50s or 60's. I
want to say it's a beach song. If you by chance know the
name of this song and the artist, can you please let me
know? thanks. I'm at amarkjr@aol.com

If anyone is interested in listening to Oldies from the
50s, 60s and 70s on the internet, go to WOMG.com. It is a
local station coming out of Columbia, SC (Oldies 103.1).
They play beach music on Sundays from 3p-6p and there is a
live request show on Sunday nights from 6p-9p. You can
either call in or e-mail a request. I think you would
enjoy it.

I am looking for sheet music to "Who Put the Bop?" and a
fun song with words that went: "If you want to be happy
for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your
wife, so from my personal point of view, get an ugly girl
to marry you." I'm not sure who wrote either song but I
think both were popular in the 60's.

Hello - my parents will soon be celebrating their 50th
wedding anniversary. I'm hoping to make a picture video
for them and would love to find "their song". My mom said
she thinks it was You Are My Everything..but couldn't
remember the artist. They were married in 1957 and dated
for a few years before. Do you know such a song from the

This for query :Song about a car accident, rain, and a girl

===========================================================
Tommy and Laura were lovers he wanted to give here
everything
Flowers presents and most of all a wedding ring
He saw a sign for a stockcar race a thousand dollar prize
it read
He couldn't get Laura on the phone so to her mother Tommy
said
Tell Laura I love her tell Laura I need her
Tell Laura I may be late I've something to do that cannot
wait
He drove his car to the racing ground he was the youngest
driver there
The crowd roared as they started to race
Around the truck they drove at a deadly pace
No one knows what happened that day how his car overturned
in flames
But as they pulled him from the twisted wreck
With his dying breath they heard him say
Tell Laura I love her tell Laura I need her
Tell Laura not to cry my love for her will never die

Now in the chapel Laura prays for her Tommy who passed away
It was just for Laura that he lived and died alone in the
chapel she can hear him cry
Tell Laura I love her...
My love for her will never die

Marc...He's A Rebel by The Crystals.
Sylvia Darby
Columbia, SC USA - Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 19:20:22 (EDT)
There's a song, "He's a Rebel" and I am looking for the
singers, an early-rock female group.

He's a rebel and and he'll never be any good,
He'a a rebel 'cause he never-ever does what he should . . .

Can you help me out? I'm actually looking for the complete
lyrics and if I had the group's name, maybe I could find
it.

Thanks. (mtrujillo@hotmail.com)

I hope you can help! I'm going crazy trying to remember
the song. It was by a group I think called the beacons or
bacons and I think the 45 record had a indian head on it.
The beginning of the song went " Rain , rain , rain keeps
falling. It was in the late 50s maybe 60.... I have a bet
with a friend, who can get it first. Thanks ....

Song about a car accident, rain, and a girl dying . The
man is singing how he has to be good, so he can go to
heaven to be with his girlfriend. From the 50's or 60's,
I think.
