Lisa Marie Presley's version brings out her own style and emtion
regarding the Press and the Media. Don Henley's is Great, but Lisa's
is a Very Good cover.

I definitely agree for both lists best+worst. That Jimi Hendrix song
is one of my favourite, improving Bob Dylan's version, and the Limp
Bizkit cover of The Who is horrible. The original is a great song
with lots of feeling, and Limp Bizkit made it sound bad and cheesy.

I nominate Tori Amos' cover of "Angie" for the top of the worst list. An inherently mediocre
song with a stunningly good original performance is a really stupid choice to cover.
The Supersuckers cover of X's "Poor Little Girl" is pretty awful too. Instrumentally it works
fine, but guest vocalist Eddie Vedder's voice and singing style are horribly, horribly unsuited
to this song.
About 12 of Me First and the Gimme Gimmes' covers should be in the top 10, but to pick
only one I'd say "Over the Rainbow"
Sinead O'Connor's "Success Has Made a Failure of Our Home" deserves at least listing.

Rob Zombie's version of blitzkrieg bop (originally by the Ramones) is

Why is there only one cover by Nirvana on this list?Who ever heard of
The Vaselines until Kurt's covers of 'Molly's Lips' and 'Son Of A
Gun' took them to the masses? And what about Nirvana's covers of 'Lake
Of Fire' and 'Plateau',originally by the Meat Puppets? They were
pretty damn good! Also,'Man Who Sold The World' should be higher up
the list!Damn...

"Tainted Love" by Soft Cell is a remake of a 60's song by Gloria

Jane's Addiction's "Sympathy for the Devil." Really excellent cover.

Does this list means that the cover version is better than the
original?? If it is, remove:
1)Astronomy, BÖC's version had more emotion
2)Little Wing, so much better the original and Stevie Ray Vaughan's
version was better than Derek and the Dominoes' anyway.
3)Sabbra Cadabra
4)Tuesday's gone
5)War Pigs
6)Voodo Child (slight return), SRV's version was a very good one, but
it does not beat the original.
7)While my guitar gently weeps, I really like Jeff Healey's rendition
of the song but again, it does not beat the original.
If the concept of this list is not what I said before, just reply to
this post saying how stupid I am to believe otherwise.

the hidden treasures of the more obscure bands such as blitzkrieg

Banana-rama's version of 'Venus' is pretty crappy in it's own
right, let alone when compared to the Shocking Blue's 1970 version.
the original featured some pretty tasty acoustic and electric guitar
work, while the cover featured the Banana girls' patently off-key
vocals and that incredibly annoying techtronic sound that seemed to
dominate 80's music.
Besides, the video sucked.

hillary duff's version of my generation should cover for all of the
other poorly covered songs. How in the hell is a 12 year old...i
don't what the hell else to add going to sing a version by a band

The best cover ever is 'Knockin' On Heavens Door' by Guns N' Roses.
Behind that is Korn's - 'Another Brick To The Wall'. It may sound
awful, Korn playing Floyd, but it's an incredible song. Also

What's all the fuss about Scisssor Sisters version of comfortably Numb? May not be the best
cover in the world but at least they had the balls to do something different with it! What
would you prefer- that they covered it the way of the original like so many other terrible
cover versions
cover versions done right can manage to be better the originals
Righteous Brother's - Unchained Melody
Hendrix- All Along The Watchtower
Whitney Houston I Will Always Love You
Not saying the above 3 are the best all time covers but all 3 perfectly illustrate the art of
covering another artists song perfectly!
Back to Scissor sisters- they took a great Floyd song and turned it into a disco hit and that's
something so many artists don't EVER attempt
How many cover versions have you heard that just copy what the original artist did but
worse
Hardly think they qualify as doing one of the worst cover versions when there are literally
1000's that are in line first!!
David

MIKE FROM UK- about the cover of S Club 7's Don't Stop Moving-
well it wasn't muse who covered it but James Walsh from Starsailor and it was on Radio 1's
Live Lounge- you can hear it on the radio 1 website 'Live Lounge archives' under Starsailor
(James Walsh)
Indeed it is a good version and very different from the bubblegum pop of S Club 7 but I
wonder as it was co-written by James Walsh for S-Club does it still count as a cover?
Ah i'll leave that for you to decide but hope that has cleared it up

Bob Dylan doesn't need no favours from anyone....least of all GNR.
Sure he's got a crappy voice, which has gotten worse over the years
(at least his elocution is really bad now) but so has Axl Rose's voice
gone bad, and that dude is only in his early 40's.
In his prime, Rose was a slavish imitator of a much better singer,
Dan McCafferty of Nazareth.
He readily admitted he modeled himself after him.
But McCafferty would be embarrassed to hear Rose these days...clearly,
he hasn't taken care of his body or his voice over the years.
I have seen concert footage of him and his new band and he has
obviously declined.

Why isn't Texas Flood by Stevie Ray (originally by Larry Davis) on the
best covers list? Same thing with When the Levee Breaks by Led Zeppelin
(originally by Memphis Minnie)!? Two of my favorite songs that I just
recently fgured out were covers.

i think that all of nirvana's meat puppet cover songs, including "lake
of fire" "Plateu" and "oh, me", should be on here. the originals were
sloppy, painful, and incoherrant. nirvana took them and made them
beautiful. while the meat puppets were good song writers, they weren't
very good at playing their own songs.

Linkin' Park did an awesome cover of Kansas' Dust in the Wind. It
sounds so real that you'll think it is Kansas playing it. Check it
out.

Fields of Gold - Eva Cassidy, I feel the earth move (Carole King) -
Martika, Purple Haze - Ozzy, What You're Doing - Skid Row are pretty
good covers. The Corrs committed sacrilege on Little Wing, this has
got to be one of the worst covers ever - equally as bad as the
Scissor Sisters

Kraven- youre right man, Imagine was done brilliantly by A Perfect
Circle, I like how they made it their own, and SRV's version of Voodoo
Chile is better than the original.

GNR sucks? right..........that's why their debut album was the best
selling debut of all time (and still is), that's why they were about
to become the greatest rock band of all time. They did Bob Dylan a
HUGE favor by making Knockin on Heavens Door famous.......Bob Dylan
was a hell of a song writer but about the worst vocalist I have ever
heard.

Johnny Walker: You are 100% correct. Fuck GnR. Best cover song ever
is obviously Yes' "America".

For the best list, number three should be Mr. Tambourine Man. And on
the worst list, what about guns and roses version of Knockin' On
Heavens Door, further proof of how much gnr sucks, or maybe it was
just axl, couldnt tell you cuase I dont have the patience to lsiten
to the full song. I also hear gnr did Sympathy for the Devil, whcih,
once again never listened, being as they suck, but Iv heard that
cover sucks.

Cradle of Filth's version of Hallowed Be Thy Name is pretty good, thier
vocalist's harsh voice adds a nice touch to it. Maybe worthy of being
on the best covers list, its really pretty good.

I like you to add to the 10 Worse Cover songs. (I Can't get No)
Satisfaction, covered by Britney Spears. I am very suprised you never
added that.

Imagine was covered by A Perfect Circle and I think its really good. I
like it better than Lennon's version. Also SRV's cover of Voodoo
Child(Slight Return) is awesome and should be on the top 10.

I wont listen, but damn that band sucks i heard them on TV. I can
imagine them doing Comfortably numb. People these days destroy older
bands songs. Like eminem when he ripped off dream on by aerosmith.
That was awful!

i have found the worst cover song ever.. worse than behind blue eyes
by limp biscuit... comfertably numb was done by a band called scissor
sisters.. worst song ever.. how could anyoen do that to a Pink Floyd
song.. i was offended when korn did the wall.. now i kno of an even
worse cover than that.. they made comfertably numb sound like a pop
song... i just wanna cry.. so terrible... Pink Floyd is rollign around
in their graves right now (i kno they arent dead but i assume after
they hear that song they'll die from grief).. i hope scissor sisters
pays for what they have done

Travelling Riverside Blues. Led Zeppelin did the cover, I don't know
who did the original version.
