Overview: - Salsa is a Latin American genre that incorporates multiple styles and variations based in Afro-Caribbean music, especially Cuban Son of the early 20th. The evolution of this sound started to be developed in the 1960s and '70s by Cuban and Puerto Rican immigrants to the New York City area. The style started to be practiced throughout Latin America rapidly and its influence with jazz, rock and R&B helped to consolidate as a new form of music in the Pop Era.
