Hello people, I just got a copy of Quility by Talib Kweli. Man how
this guy hasn't become the next Nas is beyond me. He is truly one of
the best mcs and lyrists in the rap game.

Ok, I am not going to be presumptious enough to list what I think the
top 10 should be but Rakim is definitely the #1 lyrcist all-time. I
come from the old school. I mean the old school. Way before Will Smith
was out of high school. I remember when LL Cool J first came out.
Anyway, I lot of things these lyricists are doing now, Rakim was doing
20 years ago. It is an insult to put 2Pac, Biggie, especially not
Eminem as the all time greatest. Come on. If you haven't been around
long enough to experience what original Hip Hop was all about, you
really don't have enough knowledge and information to say who was the
best All-Time. Now, to say best in your era, that's a different story.
But any true Hip Hop head from the days when it all began will tell you
without a doubt that Rakim is the undisputed Greatest Hip Hop Lyricist
of all time. My 2 Cents.

dude u guys dont know shit about underground rap man. Undaground is so much better
than this mainstream stuff. heres my list. listen to these artists and ull see its much better
than this crap. i admit 2pac had a message and some mainstream people are great rappers.
but u gotta listen to these guys they will blow any mainstream cat outta the water.

1. Immortal technique-if u havent heard this guy, u better check it out. listen to fuckin
"Dance With the Devil" that shits the bomb track that actually has a real message

2. Chino XL-this guy has some of the most compelling lyrics and flow you will ever hear.
Listen to "No Complex" that shit got some lyrics

3. Canibus-Drops fuckin ill ass lyrics every song. listen to "Murder" and that has fuckin
bomb lyrics

4. Big L-i give him this spot for the song he did "Put It On' which is one of my most favorite
rap songs of all time

5. Jedi Mind Tricks-This rap group is fuckin ill as hell man. listen to "Rise of the Machines"
with Ras Kass that shits tight

6. Hieroglyphics-This is another ill ass group but it aint as raw as jedi mind but they have a
lot more of a message. listen to "One Life One Love" it has real lyrics and message

7. Biggie-This guy had the best flow and some tight ass lyrics. Listen to "Juicy" that song is
tight

8. Eminem-Give him props for making it so big and being white. He really does have great
wordplay in his song and can really kick some ill freestyles. These are the only 2
mainstream artist i like biggie and em

9. Ras Kass- For the song "Nature of the Threat"

10. Rakim-He was the first real lyricist. Listen to "Follow the Leader" that has some cool
lyrics

eminem, and not Chuck D. Nobody can match the metaphors and style that
Rakim had and still has. Have yall heard the song he did with canibus

three.

Todd
- Friday, March 18, 2005 at 16:00:19 (EST)
Okay, I understand you sayin that Jay-Z samples alot of music, but
who doesn't? Rappers borrow each others lyrics and hooks all the
time. That has nothing to do with a rappers lyrical skills, and
lyrically, Jay-Z is arguably the best ALIVE. No ones delivery is as
smooth as his is, not even Nas. (ex: Dead Presidents II, lyrically
one of his best). And Jay-Zmay not be all original because he is a
businessman, Jay-Z knows how to move music and knows whats hot and
whats not, He's a Hustla.

Now, on to Eminem, He should also be in the top 5, Sadly to say,
Eminem can rhyme better than most of the artist out there. He can
rhyme about anything, and with any word about 30 times. I listen to
all hip hop, and outside of the really fast rappers, Eminem is the
hardest rapper to keep up with. Point blank the white boy can spit
anyway you want it. People may dislike Eminem because of his music,
it may sound a little bit crazy and stuff, but he's a white boy, what
do you expect? Most of the other white rappers try to be black. Next
time you hear Eminem, don't listen to the hook and all the other
crazy stuff, listen to him rhyme and see how creative he is with
words.

List of The Best Ever from the South

1.Geto Boyz - (Houston, TX)I still bump (My Mind Playin Tricks On Me)
2.Scarface - (Houston, TX) King of the South not T.I. but T.I. is okay

(The Diary)in 1994 and(Untouchable)in 1996 feat 2pac and Cr.Dre and
Ice Cube.
3.UGK - (Houston, TX) maybe the best underground rap group out of the
south they are tight as hell.
4.Eightball & MJG - (Memphis, Tenn Orange Mound) one of the best rap
groups ever, their beats and lyrics are crucial. I got 30% of my pimp
game off them.
5.Master P and No Limit - (New Orleans, LA) P and No Limit ran the rap
game from 1997 - 1999.
6.OutKast - (Atlanta, GA) they re-invent themselves every year and
still go multi-platinum every since southernplaylistics Ive been hooked
7.Luke - (Miami, Fl) the first X rated nasty rapper in the hip hop
game.
8.JD - (Atlanta, GA) one of the 1st mainstream producers out of the
south he produced Kris Kross who went Platinum and Brat who went
Platinum and so many others too many to name.
9.Trickdaddy & Trina - (Miami, FL)help put Miami even more on the map
Luke is not alone anymore
10.Cashmoney Records - (New Orleans, LA) almost anythang they make is

D.O.C should be atlease top 25 or less His Album No One Can Do It
Better (1989) is still ahead of his time and if you see this album or
CD in any music store please buy it and futhermore Dr. Dre was doing
his beats too this album is a classic. D.O.C is a West Coast Pioneer
and help put the West Coast on the Map. D.O.C was also really close w/
the NWA and the NWA also did a few songs with him on this album.

Where is Too Short the one of 1st hip hop artist to talk about pimpin
hoes and shit and how many women he got he is a legend and he help put
Oakland, CA on the map and he is one of the west coast early hip hop
pioners. Listen to track 5 off Too Short's 1st mainstram release,
(BORN TO MACK). Over 14 rap albums and he still aint fell off

Why is BIG PUN 44th on this list this is crazy, he was the 1st Latino
Rap Artist to go Platnium and his 1st LP Capital Punishment was a
classic. Pun should be at least in the Top 25. Pun can out flow maybe
90% of these cats on the list. Most of this list is commercial and
mainstream where are the real rap artists, I think that underground
rapppers are better the than most mainstram hip hop artist.

It would be cool if they would make a Greatest Hip Hop list by each
decade, :for example.

70's
Kool Herc
Kurtis Blow
Sugar Hill Gang

80's
Erick B and Rakim
KRS One
Slick Rick

90's
Notorious BIG
2 Pac
Dr. Dre & Snoop
Nas
Master P and No Limit

Dear Sasha, I disagree about Rakim not being number 1. Hey its your
opinion and I respect it but Tupac basically called Rakim the best in

I mean both are better lyrists and flowers then Em.

JuiceJuffer
- Saturday, March 12, 2005 at 17:16:10 (EST)
Why is Eminem above Jay-Z? Eminem although he has great deliver and
is a solid rhymer and story teller, he rarely uses any metaphores.
Jay-Z on the other hand has lines full of metaphores and play on
words. Jay-Z is a better lyrist(at least with lines he wrote himself)
then Eminem and his flow is smother. Move Jay-Z above Eminem.

first of all i gotta say everybodys sleepin on what the 801 has to
offer but youll find that out soon enough. i agree with the top 4 of
the list but what the hell is AZ, Big L, meth and pun doin so low? how
is kool g not in the top ten? what is fools like nelly, p diddy and
will smith doin on there, too many spots to fill? what about the liks
and king T? noyd and havoc of the imfamous? if you are talkin about
influence in the game, how can you not include g-unit? lloyd banks mix
tape shit is off the hook. i could name fifty more mcs that would wipe
out half your list, but thanks for tryin. MC ren, WU Tang? kanye and
ceelo are way too high up. well thats some of my beefs with the list.
i gotta say too, quit hatin on eminem. fools say hes big cause hes
white, the only rappers that have been even close to his success is
the beasties and you cant tell me hes the only whiteboy who could flow
since then. just give credit where its do. heres my thoughts.

Dude, amazing job. Your list is almost EXACTLY the same as the

changed about 5 things, and try to come off as some Rap Expert.
Pointless. Way to go.

ive just had it, ive got so many opinions about the list and whos
there and where, and so i thought, why criticise? Making a list like
this is fucking hard to do, so ill make my own..GIVE ME OPINIONS, but
ive heard and listen to MOST of the top 50 on a frequent basis, and i
am not a cocksucking lover of one artist and therefor put him at the
top no matter what, so here's how it goes for me. NOTE: THIS LIST IS
BASED ON:
RHYME CONTENT AND VARIATION THEREOF
DELIVERY
CONSISTENCY
IMPORTANCE OF LYRICS IN RESPECTIVE CONTEXTS
USE OF LANGUAGE DEVICES AND FREQUENCE THEREOF (metaphors, similes,
alliteration.....you get what i mean)
P.S. i wish i was perfect but im not, so tell me if you have
jsutification, where ive gone wrong, and things will change. THough
remember the criteria i used.
1. Rakim (Eric B. & Rakim, Solo)
2. 2pac
3. Nas
4. KRS One (Boogie Down Production, Solo)
5. Notorious B.I.G.
6. Slick Rick
7. Chuck D (Public Enemy)
8. Common
9. Ice Cube (N.W.A., solo)
10. LL cool J
11. Andre 3000 (Outkast)
12. Big Daddy Kane
13. Kool G Rap
14. Mos Def
15. Eminem
16. Raekwon
17. Jay Z
18. Kool Moe Dee (Treacherous Three, Solo)
19. Guru (Gang Starr)
20. Talib Kweli
21. Big L
22. Q Tip (Tribe Called Quest, Solo)
23. MC Lyte
24. DMX
25. Redman
26. Jadakiss (The LOX, Solo)
27. Kurupt
28. Scarface (Geto Boys, Solo)
29. Method Man (Wu Tang Clan, Solo)
30. Posdnous (De La Soul)
31. Inspektah Deck (Wu Tang Clan)
32. Big Punisher
33. Mike D (Beastie Boys)
34. Cee Lo (Goodie Mob)
35. Big Boi (Outkast)
36. Busta Rhymes (Leaders of the New School, Solo)
37. Black Thought (The Roots)
38. AD Rock (Beastie Boys)
39. Grand Puba (Brand Nubian, Solo)
40. Lauryn Hill
41. Queen Latifah
42. Pharoahe Monche (Organized Konfusion)
43. Ghostface Killah
44. Masta Killa
45. Lil Kim
46. C.L Smooth
47. Evidence (Dilated People)
48. Run (Run DMC)
49. The D.O.C.
50. GZA/GENIUS

You will notice considerable gains by COMMON, (name me a bad album
hes put out, also, listen to a single one of his songs, example
ORANGE PINEAPPLE JUICE, and imagine how unbelievably difficult it
would be to write that kind of shit, i was thinking of promoting him
mroe but there would be an uproar with teh argument taht his records
havent made phenomenal sales), talib kweli and mos def, for similar
reasons not to mention unbelievable delivery and skill. Sorry, but i
had to demote eminem according to my criteria, on the basis that his
rhymes and INCREDIBLY REPETITIVE, as well as a lackluster delivery on
encore i thought. Nevertheless, i will be awaiting his future
releases cause i think he really is tops, btu well see what happens.
Meanwhile, the people ahead of him have earned theyre spots ahead of
him, for now. Jay Z also had to go down well because repetitiveness,
AND a shit sophomore album, as well as complete bullshit content,
which really should put him lower but neway. Snoop Dogg is off
because nothign he has done since doggystyle is even worth the poison
my ears receive from it. Missy elliot is gone too because, well, fuck
her. Tell me what you think ppl.

This list is very good! I cant even argue with the top ten. The top
three are LYRICALLY the best rappers EVER. They could go into any
given order if you ask me. LL is a little too high though. To have MC
Hammer on the list is laughable(Too legit to quit... yea right!).
Arguably Common could be in the top ten.

Stop hating on Tupac, rapping about something important is way harder
than anything else people like biggie or jay-z (fuck him by the way)
was coming out with. And how in the hell are you gonna say jay-z is
better than pac. Do your research. HE STEALS BIGGIES AND PAC'S RHYMES.

OH, and while Biggie was arguably a better storyteller than Rakim;
Rakim would eat him alive rhyme-for-rhyme--Nas would give Ra a better
run for his money, I think. They (Rakim and Nas) are more 'verbal
assassins' than Biggie. He was very clever, though; and deserves his
spot on the list, but not any higher.

Todd
- Wednesday, March 09, 2005 at 18:12:06 (EST)
Darrell;
No offense dog, but you don't know what you're talking about...

Rakim is only known for ONE song? Are you serious? Maybe you should
say that YOU only know one song by Rakim, cuz the rest of the world
knows these CLASSICS:
Paid In Full
Eric B. Is President
Move the Crowd
My Melody
I Ain't No Joke

Oh, and by the way, those all come from ONE album "Paid In Full"--so
that squashes your statement that 'Ready to Die' would kill anything
Ra put out, as if Rakim never made a good album (which is not only
DEAD WRONG, it's LAUGHABLE)...

More CLASSIC songs:
Follow The Leader
Lyrics Of Fury
Microphone Fiend
Know the Ledge
Don't Sweat the Technique
Let the Rhythm Hit'Em
As the Rhyme Goes On
The Punisher

Two classic albums: the aforementioned 'Paid In Full' and it's
sequel 'Follow the Leader,' and a near-classic with 'Let the Rhythm
Hit 'Em.'

Educate yourself, young man--so you don't make yourself look ignorant
like that again.

jonny;
There's more to being a great lyricist than technical ability. 2Pac
is VERY underrated as an MC; but, aside from that, his lyrical depth
and approach was revolutionary and should be acknowledged as such.
Certain singers might not have the greatest voices in the technical
sense; but their passion and soul sets them above their peers. The
same can be said for certain rappers, I think.

Todd
- Wednesday, March 09, 2005 at 18:09:15 (EST)
2pac at #2? come on, 2pac is the most beloved and important rapper
of all-time, but this list is the greatest lyricists/emcees, and 2pac
is NOT #2. Is flow was unorthadox and his rhymning ability was ok at
best, he just had important things to say and a powerfull way of
saying them. Notorious totally kills him as far as emcees go.
Notorious should be #1 or 2, even Nas himself would put him above
Biggie.

jonny
- Wednesday, March 09, 2005 at 15:01:26 (EST)
Putting a list like this together is a tough thing to do, so I
certainly respect the effort. Love Rakim at #1 and love seeing Andre
3000 get the respect from almost everyone (although I think he could
be even higher). But...

Guys, I LOVE Snoop more than anyone as an entertainer, but his lyrics
and flow after "Doggystyle" are downright embarrassing. It is
impossible to sit through a recent Snoop album after listening to
truly great contemporary lyricists like Common, Talib, Black Thought,
etc. It kills me to say it, but Snoop can't be in the top 50.

And speaking of Black Thought, he should be higher, but I can live
with #38. Would definitely take Thought over Eminem anyday, not to
mention LL Cool J or DMX.

Eminem is good, maybe great, but the 9th best of all time?!?! Perhaps
he could be, if he didn't rap about the same damn things every damn
album. Come on, you have to admit he does a little too much beefin
with boy bands and Christina Aguillera. He's too angry and narrow
minded to be one of the greatest.

Del the Funky Homosapien has been genius at times, definite top 50.
Deltron 3030 was waaaaay ahead of its time.

I must be missing something on why Dr. Dre isn't there. You have to
put him on somewhere. I don't care where, but somewhere!

And most importantly, there is no way in hell P. Diddy belongs in this
discussion.

JuiceJuffer, Rakim is a very good mc, but lets be real, he is most
know for one song and is overrated as a whole. B.I.G. is the

Matt Williams, I agree Jay-Z does rely to much on borrowing but he
can be very creative when he wants to be and is probly one of the
best freestyle rappers out tody. Then again every rapper has their
weakness. I mean Rakim who is of coarse the greatest of all time(very
few rappers can make my mouth drop like he does) still has his weak
points. For one he relies too much on catch pharses and his rhymes
although very poetic rarely say very much and he rarely tells a
story. Notorious B.I.G. although he is one of the greatest writters
and story tellers in rap history he can't freestyle. He even said so
himself. His creativity, complex rhymes, and smooth flow more then
make up for this. Thanks for your knowlege and patience it is great
to talk to someone who takes rap as a serious art form. I for one
would rather listen to Rakim or B.I.G. then Pink or Three Doors Down.

he got famous off of Biggies Rhymes and Lyrics and 2 pac's Me and My
Girl Friend he is a re mix rapper and he is not orginal 85 % of the
time

50 Cent : AKA the real Gurrilla (ha ha ha) , must use Beef to sell
records and had somebody shoot him in the ankle to get record sales.
50 gets Mad at Jada Kiss , Fat Joe and Nas for making a hit song w /
Ja Rule called New York. You cannot tell any rapper who they can, or
who they cannot make a song with. Does this nigga thinks he is GOD or
some shit !!! Nas would kill 50 in a rap battle any day and if Pun was
Alive he would kill 50 in a rap Battle while Fat Joe (Lean Back) and
laugh at 50. I also think that 50 cent is Jealous of the Game thats
why he released his album right after the Game did to try to shut
Games album down. I know one thang that 50 cent would not last one day
on the Streets of Indianapolis AKA NAP TOWN like in the West side
Ghetto's of Haughville or East Side Ghetto's of Forest Mannor and
Britewood and Post Rd. North Side Ghettos of Central, Fall Creek ,
Washington Blvd, College and New Jersey st. South Side Ghetto's of
Barrington and Brick City.

T . I. : King of the South (yeah right!!!) Nigga Scarface , Eightball

South T. I. will never outflow or outrap Ludacris in a million years ,
Ludacris got T. I. in his pocket. T. I. is pretty Good but will never
ever never ever be King of the South.

Nelly : will never make my list the only song I really like from Nelly
was Air Force Ones. I like JKwon out of St. Louis better than Nelly
and Murphy Lee's Cd was Garabage

Emeniem : Will never make my list (highly overated) just because he is
a White boy rappin everybody goes wild and crazy When he changed his
style up that's when he fell off my list. I will never put a white
nigga as one of the best Hip hop Mc's when black pepole created this
shit. And futhermore Eminem did a horible Job on some of the songs on
2 Pac's latest Lp (Loyal to the Game) he made it sound like a Eminem
album. And why did he started singing on track 1. Im not hatin on
Eminem at all but you cannot put or force your style on somebody and
just throw something together. Emimem's musical style sounds good w/
his style of rap. Why didn't Eminiem get help or ask some of 2 Pac's
old producers to do his music to get the old 2 pac sound back. He is
not a producer he is a rapper.

I see you've made the classic mistake of overrating 2pac and other
mainstream MCs whos acclaim doesnt come from their really average
lyrics, but instead the hype surrounding them. Seriously, lyrically
speaking songs like Brenda's Baby are really quite average. 2pac is
not of the same caliber as Biggie, Slick Rick, Nas or Jay-Z. Keep in
mind that 2pac's popularity is largely posthumous... no one was rating
him so high back in 93 and 94 when Wu-Tang, Biggie and Nas were
already established and respected lyricists.

Actually, regarding the whole 'boat in the video' argument; Jay-Z
rapped on a boat in his very first video 'In My Lifetime' which came

50 cent is dropping a album in March called St. Valentines day
Massacure and the tracks I heard so far on or local Hip hop station in
Indianapolis called 96.3 have been crucial, tight beats and all dat
shit. But the 50 cent LP will dis FAT JOE, NAS, JADAKISS because they
made a hit song w/ JA Rule called New York. I have no beef w this
nigga but you cannot tell any rapper who they can, or who they cannot
make a song with. This nigga thinks he is GOD or some shit. I hope the
rappers I've nammed will git back w/ 50 cause Fat Joe Got an New LP
coming out called (Things of that Nature). I know if I was a Rap
Artist I would have no problem taking out any Rap nigga trying to
challenge me. If I was in the rap game and 50 callenge me I would not
be scared. Most of deez niggas be acting all scared trying to avoid

I have no prbllem w/ Jay -Z he is still one of the greatest rappers of
all time but you must stay original. Jay Z's most original albums were
Reasonable Doubt (which is his best album) and Hard Knock Life Vol. 2
The reason Nas took the place of Jay Z on my list is becuase most of
Nas material was always original thats why he is better than Jay - Z
and Nas dis album Either Made Jay - Z start calling Rocka - fella
Records Da Roc. That Dis record was so crucial it made Jay - Z fear
Nas and that album Made Jay - Z retire and change his personality.

Juice Juffer,

You are cool with me but I still say After 2Pac and Biggie died Jay -
Z
copied alot of rap rhymes mataphores and lyrics off of the Notorious
BIG even his video's and shit.

Remember the Hypnotize video, BIG and Puff was the First Rap Niggas to
be on a Boat. That vidoe made other rap niggas step up they game. Jay -
Z and Damon Dash the FAKE BIGGIE and PUFFY just had to copy that
video on Big Pimpin

will continue to drop more facts about this subject at a later time

Most of this list I agree with but, Why is Big Pun # 89 on the list
Big Pun should be in the top 20 or 25. His Debut Capital Punishment Lp
album is one of the best rap albums ever plus he and Fat Joe opened
the door for other Latino Rap Artists and Pun was the first Latino
nigga to go Platnum. Sometimes I think that people do not listen to
these albums.

Where the fuck is TOO SHORT!!!!!!!!!!!! one of the first niggas in the
game to talk about the pimp life and fuckin hoe's and all dat shit.
One of my favorite Too Short songs is These are the tales the Freaky
tales that I tell so well (Track 5 off of the Born to Mack Album)
another song is The world is Filled off of the Notorious Big's Album
(Life After Death Lp) Track 9 Disc 2

man is as creative as Big L. , Raekwon, or Common.

Willaims there is some last minute cleaning I am trying to get done
so I am up late. Ok Nas did rap about Rocfeller records on the brutal
track "Ether" but you know what I mean by neither Big or Nas have
rapped about Rockefeller(in support of cuz).

JuiceJuffer

Matt Williams I can't see how you can say jay-z ripped off Big and
Nas sure he may have some of their verses in his raps(even if its ten
or twenty who cares the guy like has over 60 different verses not
counting verses he does for other people's records in which he
usually raps about his company) but come on to say only 13 percent of
what Jay-Z does is orginal is ludcris. I mean Jay-Z has 9 orginal
albums. Big God rest his soul only has 3 and Nas only has 6 and Jay-Z
alot of times raps about himself or his company something Nas or Big
have or would never have rapped about. Unless you are saying he
ripped only one song off of Tupac. I would like to see you prove it.
Besides you hate Jay-Z I mean I doubt you own any of Jigger's albums.
Jay-Z may not be competly orginal but from what I have heard, read,
and gathered at least 85-95% of his lyrics and overall songs are
orginal. Yes he is pretentious and not as good as he likes to think
he is but albums like Resonable Doubt prove he is one of the top ten
or 15. Of course you could listen to and or read every lyric by every
rapper and try to prove Jay-Z has some how ripped them off to but
don't bother. I mean if you did something like this you would be
obsessed. Damn I can't get any sleep tonight.

One last thing Matt Williams, What is your opinion of british rapper
Dizzy Rascal? I think he is very skilled and his lyrics have a depth
to them that is missing from much of American Hip hop. I think if he
keeps making albums like Boy in the Corner he will be reconized as
one of the greats. And people that is great due to actual song
writing and performance skills and not sales.

JuiceJuffer
- Saturday, February 26, 2005 at 02:29:44 (EST)
Dear Matt Williams, I for one like Eminenem. Sure he can be stupid
and immmature but he is one of the most socially and emotionally
aware rappers in the business today. As for Talib Kewli and Common I
am just discovering them. Common seems to be the best rapper when it
comes to using metaphores and Kweli's word play and ryhmes are so
well done and creative you don't always know where they are going to
take you.

JuiceJuffer

Kwaylon Graham Jay - Z I mean Gay - Z will never make my Top East
Coast rappers list because he is only 13% original you must be at
least 85 - 90 % original to make my list. Jay Z is like a remix rapper
he copied most of his rhymes off of the Notorious BIG. The Notorious
BIG is the King of New York.

For Examaple :

Me and My Girlfriend - 2Pac Makavelli LP back around 1996 or 97 Jay Z
copied that

Im a pimp by blood not realation yall still chase sum I replace thum -
Origial lyrics on Life After Death LP in 1997 Disc 2 feat Too Short
and Puffy. Jay Z copied that

The list goes on and on he even copied Nas too.

Will give more examples at a later time

Juice Juffer you are right. Common and Talib Kweli should have been on
my list because they are some of the best rapper today. Common's and
Talib Kwelib's lyrics go deeper that the bling bling and the Hoe's
cars and money. Maybe next time they will be on the list.

When I look back on the list what the fuck was I thinking about puttin
Emienem on my list.

I know it's hard but don't dismiss all young people. I'm 14 and I've
one of the widest ranges of music taste ever. There are some smart
younger people who don't just follow the crowd. Some kid on this
particular room is in the 8th grade and he does not like the
direction rap is going in. There are some smart young people who do
not just act, thing, look, or dress like everybody.

Todd:

It's a funny thing that you mentioned what artists you like, most of
them happen to be my favorite as well. A long time ago I can
remember riding in the car with some of my friends. I was listening
to Michael McDonald's "I Keep Forgetting" and one of my friends, with
a straight face, said "hey, who's the white guy that stole Warren
G.'s Regulate beat?" Needless to say, I just looked at him in
disbelief. But that's the problem with most of rap fans today. They
are unaware of other genres, which rap has borrowed ALOT from. Nas
has borrowed from The Eurythmics, Jay has borrowed from Earth, Wind,
and Fire, Big has borrowed from Mtume, I mean the list goes on. Of
course, everybody has borrowed from James Brown. I think that the
younger people (listen to me like I'm so old, I'm only 24) need to
start appreciating music as a WHOLE. They will find alot more joy in
the art.
Some of my favorites:
Al Green
Bobby Womack
Curtis Mayfield
Otis Redding
Sam Cooke
Prince
Michael Jackson
Madonna
New Edition
Gun 'N Roses
Nirvana
Bon Jovi
Hall & Oates
Miles Davis
Muddy Waters
Howlin Wolf
Bob Marley....

The list goes on!
