I swear, every few posts; there's an idiot bitching because 50 Cent or
2Pac aren't on this list! I guess our public school systems really ARE
shit because none of these fuckers can read. It's amazing to me how
many people don't see that big, four-syllable word at the top of the
list:

ALTERNATIVE!!!
ALTERNATIVE!!!
ALTERNATIVE!!!
ALTERNATIVE!!!
ALTERNATIVE!!!
ALTERNATIVE!!!
ALTERNATIVE!!!

What I love is ignorant people that don't just treat this for what it
is, a great list of albums that you may or may not agree with the
ordering of. It makes you want to go back and listen to some classics
that you haven't listened to for a while and dig out stuff you haven't
heard of.

I could preach about the omission of any UK Hip-Hop or Frech Hip-Hop,
but it doesn't really matter to me, I just dig these lists (though I
agree with a couple of the people that Madvillain - Madvillainy should
probably be there).

People saying things like "do your research" is just stupidity
incarnate!! Listening to music isn't about doing research it is about
stumbling into new tunes and enjoying it.

It's good work well done Todd, keep it up.

Young Jordan;
Two things:
1. If that's an all-time list, it's flawed because you don't have a
SINGLE album from the 80s on it...and...
2. This is the ALTERNATIVE albums list!

You hear that people;
ALTERNATIVE!!!

I made this list; and 'Aquemini' outshines 'ATLiens' in diversity,
musicianship; lyrically, and overall artistic creativity. It is one of
the most unique rap albums ever recorded and incorporates more of a
variety of styles than almost any mainstream rap album recorded before
or since.

Some of you cats don't know what you're listening to.

Todd

ATlies owns aquemini, come on guys, who made this list?

Top 5?! That's retarded. Maybe it should be higher, but top five is
just crazy.

Todd

Deltron should be in the top 5, not #40!

Kanye West is on the greatest alternative rap artists list. He should
probably be on here too.

EO;
This is the 'alternative' rap list; if you were wondering where those
albums were.

Todd
- Friday, February 25, 2005 at 18:44:12 (EST)
Ready to Die, The Chronic, Makeveli, It Takes a Nation of Million to
Hold us Back. Only a few of the most important rap albums in the
history of hip-hop.

Nice list. I like this subgenre a lot. Here's a display of real,
timeless wealth and great talent.

Not alternative/rap; but alternative-rap. Meaning rap that is an
ALTERNATIVE to the more conventional rap; not rap music that is
combined with alternative rock music.

Todd
- Monday, February 21, 2005 at 10:15:49 (EST)
there should be like limp biskit n linkin park if ur taliking bout
ALTERNATIVE/rap

- Sunday, February 20, 2005 at 22:28:29 (EST)
Would Kanye West be considered alternative? Because if so, the album
is certainly good enough for the list.

Mark
- Sunday, February 20, 2005 at 21:42:37 (EST)
I'll stick to alternative rap, there is only so much about gats and
hoes I can stand listening to.

sorry

Jae;
Circa 1994; that WAS alternative. Their approach was astonishingly
unique for the time. The use of elaborate live instrumentation; the
emphasis of a southern drawl and cadence in their flow--whereas the
few Southern rap acts that had been out up to that point where more
of a psuedo-West Coast style--really set them apart from everything
else that was going on. Granted; they continued to push further and
further away from hip-hop norms with each subsequent album; I still
think that 'Southernplayalistic...' was a breath of fresh air as hip-
hop's 'Golden Age' was coming to a close.

Todd
- Wednesday, February 09, 2005 at 10:17:29 (EST)
Outkast's debut album 'Southernplayalistic.....' really isnt an
alternative rap album. They didnt start going in an alternative
direction until their second release 'ATLiens'. 'Southern..' was
just Outkast rapping about what southern boys know...slamming
Cadillac doors, pimping and the playa life, and struggles of growing
up in ATL.

Spearhead is GREAT!!! Michael Franti is a preachin' genius.
"Home" is my Bible. You know how you feel when you meet
somebody that hasn't seen "Friday (the movie) yet?" Then you tell
them, "Don't just watch it, shit you need to MEMORIZE it!"
That's how I feel about Spearhead's "Home" album.
Anyone looking for a great album, period, go find this album!
Disposable Heroes, "(Television) The Drug of a Nation," made
me boycott tv for a week,... as a teenager!
My point is,.. as great as Franti is, and as much as I love his work,
I do understand that my opinion is only one and so I as I ask for
support in moving his works UP on the list, I'm sure your
knowledge of hip-hop could satisfy another entry for #94.
...Okay, OR number 68:[
Other than that, it seems to be a great list, Todd. Good job.

Probably an honorable mention, if that, but the "Judgement Night"
soundtrack comes to mind whenever I see "Rap" and "Alternative"
in the same sentence.
